2024 Rover P4 Drivers' Guild P4 75th Diamond Anniversary Weekend

Bookings are now closed but you can still join in on Sunday 12th May and pay upon arrival at the check-in gazebos.

The Guild committee has the pleasure in announcing this as the date for the 75th anniversary Diamond Rally. This milestone anniversary of the P4 will be held in the heart of Derbyshire where you will be able to enjoy scenic runs to various attractions and drive through the lovely villages in the surrounding area. There is lots to see and do during your stay at our chosen hotel called The Makeney Hall in Milford. The long history of Makeney Hall is entwined with the local towns Belper and Milford, and a local family the Strutts, whose influence on the area is still seen in the local landmarks such as the Strutt’s North Mill Museum, as well as their very own Strutt House Restaurant. Jedediah Strutt (1726-1797) along with his sons created their fruitful cotton mill business in 1786, which continued to operate for the next century. In total, the Strutts built eight mills, each including workers’ houses that would create one of the world’s first industrial communities. Makeney Hall was sold by the Strutt family to Derbyshire Council in 1936, until it closed in 1988. The Hall reopened in 1991 after it was purchased by Sonia Belescolko. It is now owned and operated by Uday Pilani, who strives to preserve the history of the grounds while also curating a one-of-a-kind experience for hotel guests.

The hotel will be our base for the weekend, the starting point for an optional organised road run and the venue for our anniversary meal on the evening of Saturday 11th May 2024. Special dietary needs can be arranged via the Guild's Events Officer, please make contact via . Should you wish to take the opportunity of staying for a longer period the hotel and the Guild has organised a great discount on room rates. Sunday 12th May 2024 is rally day which will be held at The Great British Car Journey Museum in Ambergate. The Museum has a great collection of British cars plus lots of history associated with the vehicles. We have arranged plenty of attractions to keep you entertained throughout the day plus discounted entry into the museum within your rally fee. The Guild always welcomes cars other than P4s; it is nice to welcome other classic enthusiasts as this gives a variety of vehicles to see.

Members can set off at there own leisure to enjoy a scenic run through some of the routes offered by Ben Morgan (Guild Young Owners Officer) whose Grandfather (Guild Regional Rep) drove back in the day when he used his P4 on a daily basis. This run would be an approximately 40 miles round trip and will enable you to enjoy the scenery of the local area.
